ROLES AND FUNCTIONS

PASTORAL SECTION

The NEW Pastoral Section of the diocese will be composed of the following six Commissions: 

(Note: some commissions are not applicable to our parish)

• Commission on Evangelization: This Commission is at the forefront of the Church’s primary mission: the proclamation of the Gospel. It coordinates and animates all evangelizing efforts in the diocese, especially in reaching out to the unchurched, the baptized who are distant from the faith, and those in the peripheries. 

• Commission on the Divine Worship: This Commission safeguards and promotes the proper celebration of the liturgy and the sacramental life of the Church, in fidelity to the liturgical norms and the spiritual needs of the faithful. 

• Commission on Catholic Education (CACES): This Commission serves as the arm of the diocese in promoting the integral formation of the human person through Catholic education, in collaboration with the diocesan and parochial schools, and other educational institutions within the diocese. 

• Commission for the Laity: This Commission fosters the active participation and empowerment of the lay faithful in the life and mission of the Church, and enhances the pastoral care of young people, the family and its mission according to God’s plan, the elderly, and for the promotion and protection of life. 

• Commission for the Clergy, Consecrated Persons and Seminary: This Commission is concerned with the life, discipline, rights, and obligations of the clergy, consecrated persons, and seminarians of the diocese, in relation to their personal well-being, formation and their pastoral ministry. It addresses all matters necessary for the fruitful and faithful exercise of their vocation and mission in the Church. 

• Commission on the Service of Charity (Caritas Cabanatuan): As the Church’s social action and humanitarian arm, this Commission embodies the Gospel mandate to love and serve the poor, the marginalized, and those in need.
